Library and information science (LIS) has struggled throughout the years with seeking to improve diversity, representation, retention in profession. Yet, despite a broad range of efforts, profession, particularly U.S., remains mostly white, which mirrors American higher education general. This disparity makes it imperative for field recognize more subtle forms racism, such as colorblindness or belief that U.S. moved into post-racial world. work will present strategies LIS educators librarians can employ battle through specific interventions classroom. We believe are uniquely positioned impact students' learning when comes navigating issues racism modern-day society. Here, we use reflective practice explore ways we, professionals, have dealt various related topics classroom without falling trap colorblindness. Our goal is advance conversations allow be tackled appropriately managed benefit both students faculty.
